Residential Moving

There are three basic types of residential moves:

  • Local Move: Also called an in-town move. Usually priced at an hourly rate.
  • Intrastate Move: Any move that remains inside the state is an intrastate move. Moving from Los Angeles to San Diego would be an example of an intrastate move. These moves are usually quoted on a job-by-job basis.
  • Interstate Move:  Any move that goes from one state to another is an interstate move. Moving from Seattle to Boise is an interstate move. These moves are also quoted on a job-by-job basis.



 

Costs for Residential Moving

At American Moving & Storage our pricing is based on three elements: labor, materials and any additional insurance. You pay:

* Labor: For a local move there's a flat rate for the first two hours and an hourly rate, in half-hour increments, thereafter.See the pack & load service.

* Materials: If we do the packing for you the cost of boxes and other packing materials.

* Valuation: We carry insurance but you may want to have additional coverage for items such as: artwork, jewelry, furs, antiques and other special items.

How to Get an Estimate


We offer three methods for getting an estimate: (1) Speak with one of our estimators to get a general estimate over the phone; (2) Call and set up an appointment for us to come to your home and give you estimate in writing. This will be a more accurate and detailed estimate than you can achieve by phone. (3) If you're just looking for an estimate for labor see our pack & load service.

In the moving and storage business, you'll find two types of estimates: (1)non-binding, which means your final price will be based on the actual amount of hours and materials used on the job; and (2) a binding estimate which gives you a guaranteed price that won't exceed the amount quoted.



Additional Services

We also offer a seniors discount and same day service. At American Moving & Storage we also have the necessary equipment and expertise for piano moving. We're also offer a cleaning service and have the equipment to move safes and other large items.
